General guidelines

Manuscripts can be submitted at any time and will be published in their order of acceptance, with the received/accepted dates noted on the first page.

The submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process after being accepted
by the Editorial Committee. The Boletín will inform the authors about the acceptance or rejection of the manuscript as soon as possible. Confirmation of receipt of a manuscript, which does not mean that it has been accepted for publication, will be informed via email. The authors may check the status of the process on the OJS platform available on www.boletinmuseoprecolombino.cl.

Although the complete editorial process takes, on average, 16 weeks, sometimes it may take longer, depending on the authors’ level of commitment, reviewers’ availability, and possible modifications of the article.

The editorial process comprises the following stages:

Receipt of the manuscript: 3 weeks

  • Immediate confirmation of receipt of the manuscript.
  • Editorial Committee’s acceptance of the manuscript for evaluation. This does not guarantee its publication.

The Boletín may ask the author to adapt the manuscript to comply with the journal’s editorial standards in case it fails to meet them.

Evaluation: 5 weeks

  • Double-blind review by outside peers: 4 weeks.
  • Results of the first evaluation: 1 week.

Acceptance of submission and corrections

If accepted, the article’s publication terms will depend on the type of acceptance:

  • “Accepted for publication without modifications”: the article will immediately advance to the next phase.
  • “It may be published with the modifications suggested” or c) “It may be published with substantial modifications (not yet).” In both cases, the Journal will propose a term for the authors to include the reviewers’ opinions, which will depend on the type and number of suggested modifications.
  • Along with the corrected article, the author will submit a detailed list of the modifications made in a separate file. The Journal will check the inclusion of the reviewers’ comments and compliance with the Boletín’s editorial guidelines, with the possibility of requesting the authors to provide further corrections.
  • An assessment may have, on average, between two and three iterations among author-editor-.evaluators.
