The Journal

The Boletín del Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino is an indexed international online scientific journal published biannually. Founded in 1985, the Boletín is a space where Pre-Columbian art and symbolism, archeology, and anthropology come together, allowing for the discussion among specialists from social sciences, art, history, and humanities.

The journal welcomes articles, essays, debates, and investigative reports in Spanish or English on topics regarding archeology, anthropology, rock art, ethnography, art history, visual art, history, architecture, cognition, cosmology, philosophy, ecology, economics, ideology, musicology, technology, and related disciplines. Submissions combining two or more of these topic areas are especially welcome. The texts may be linked to a data set comprising graphic, visual, and audio material, as well as data or text to supplement the article.

The Boletín del Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino is an Open Access publication, funded by the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art and Adolfo Ibañez University, which are also responsible for it. The journal does not charge authors for any publication rights. The legal representative of the journal is Cecilia Puga Larraín.

Submissions are evaluated by outside anonymous reviewers, whose work is essential to ensure the manuscripts’ originality, quality, contribution, and suitability for
the journal. Submissions may be sent at any time, and will be published in order of acceptance, with the reception and approval dates noted on the first page. Confirmation of receipt of a manuscript does not imply its publication.

The articles as well as the references, figures, audios and videos used are the sole responsibility of the authors, and the views and opinions expressed therein do not necessarily reflect those of the editorial team.
